First time seeing the steam shovel 1n 2020 with my brother Bill.

Sandblasted and primed the boom. Removed some of the worn beams and fabricated new beams, I will be putting all new steal rivets back in the boom
Cleaned up the rear wheels, sandblasted and painted. Priming and painting takes a little while when I do it by hand and it’s worth it cause they turn out really nice.
Hello steam shovel followers, beautiful day out today, cleaned up a spot for the boilers,bucket,boom and the main part of the crane all sitting on the corner of my pad here so we can start chipping away at it and get back into rebuilding some of this shovel thanks to everybody that keeps following this progress.

Standing on the entrance to once was the main office of the Thew Lorain crane company. Got the opportunity to walk through some of the factory where the steam shovel was made. Then a stop at the Lorain historic museum to look at several pictures of different shovels. Finally to Brownsville Pennsylvania to help with the other steam shovel.
